Is there a law in Mexico that provides severance if you voluntarily leave your school?
I am in my third year at a private Colegio. My job is full-time, 40 hours a week.
If I decide to leave my school, does Mexican labor law require the payment of a severance? I noticed a three month severance mentioned in a recent post.
Thanks |

Generally no. You're only entitled to accumulated proportional benefits to the year you've worked, including things like aguinado and fondo de ahorro. You only get a severance (normally 3 months pay plus one week for each year you've worked) if you are fired for a cause not related to doing your job.
Some schools of course can provide this benefit if they like (I do know one person who quit and got a severance) but by law they don't have to. |
