I'm always reminded of how proud I am of Oman when I read articles like this one. Just wanted to share for anyone out there who may be interested. (paragraphs 7 - 9, I believe)

As a citizen of a militant nation often referred to as 'war monger' (rightfully so, sadly), I find Oman's dedication to peace, and their government's rejection of this kind of mentality, are a breath of fresh air. Will miss this country so much… |

Oman has been very instrumental in negotiations between Iran and the "west" for many years.
But what I found most interesting about this article... as it is these little things that often tell more than the text... was that although the print didn't deign to name him along with the other rulers attending, there was a photo of the Omani official they mentioned as attending. A royal family member that has been rumored to be the successor... and has represented the Sultan for many years in various venues. I had been wondering if he was still the usual stand-in.
