Pros:
Can be a great opportunity for someone with the right background, and the proper visa.
Cons:
* Be sure you have the appropriate visa ahead of going, don't risk having them switch it over after you're there.
* Beware that final pay / bonus may be reduced without explanation, and that when you email to inquire about the details you may not get any response.
* Be prepared to have no work-life balance. |

| It seems they want teachers with Ontario licensure. Is this set in stone? |

To have this requirement, the school is an international and can't see less than 20K PM + housing, airfares etc being acceptable.
Licensed teachers in my experience see China as a career step and one they would be happy putting on their CV/Resume, when they return home.
This unlike FTs who can't take much away from China to apply to their careers. |

Yeah, I'm on the international school circuit--just not "Ontario" certified.
I'm curious how flexible some of the IS's are on their licensure requirements... While some schools advertise wanting UK, USA, Canadian, Aussie certified teachers, it seems their staff is peppered with those without the qualifications they say they require.
Would it be futile to apply (at any school--not this one in particular) without the certification they say they want? |

Possibly if you had strong subject knowledge/quals in an area they were finding hard to staff.
Maths, etc come to mind. |

| The students are working towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and therefore 80% of the teachers in the program need to be Ontario certified teachers. |
