Hi,
I'm interested in starting up my own English centre in Canada or joining an existing one. I am a Canadian Citizen. At the moment I am running a successful English centre in Israel.> I have a TESL Canada level 2 dip and a BEd along with extensive experience teaching and developing language curriculum for young learners through to adults.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Deena |

Networking is key. Do you have a LinkedIn account? Are you a member of any of the following TESOL International Canada affiliates:
British Columbia Teachers of English as an Additional Language (BC TEAL)
TESL Association of Ontario (TESL Ontario)
TESL Nova Scotia
Teachers of English as a Second Language of New Brunswick (TESL NB) |

Hello and thank you for your speedy response!
Yes, networking is definitely the key. I do have a LinkedIn account. I haven't joined any of the TESL organisations yet since I don't yet know where I'll be settling down and joining is a bit pricey. |

Hello,
I'd like to know if there are any programs similar to the TAPIF (Teaching Assistan Program In France) program in Canada?
Also, any advice from American expats teaching in French speaking Canada will be welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks! |

Get a Canadian spouse. Really, there are one million anglophones in Quebec and most of them are also bilingual. Employers cannot claim any American ESL teacher is in-demand.
If you really want to come here, I suggest becoming a student (I think you can still work up to 20 hours/week). The Americans in Quebec are students, highly-skilled and were already employed by companies with a Montreal office, or married to a Quebecois. |
