Just thought I'd start another post since there is not much info about this school:

http://www.mls-etd.co.jp/

Anyone have any more and new info about them?

1) Treatment of employees
2) Working hours/days
3) Payment issues
4) Chance for advancement

Let us know.

This is a 2004 article, but it shows the specific studios where they teach (in English), plus some further description of what they want in a teacher. (Also doesn't look like the number of students they teach has not changed in 5 years.)

Benefits for Full-Time Instructor: Full paid training, fixed salary (250,00 ~ 260,000 base salary a month allotments for Education, Experience, Dependents, etc. Overtime is sometimes available for those who wish to earn more than the fixed salary), Fixed schedule (Core schedule is 10:00 ~ 6:00), 2 days off a week (Sunday and another day, usually Saturday or Monday), 5 paid weeks off a year (7 days in May, 14 days in August and 14 days at the new year), Japanese National Holidays off (with the exception of November 3rd), apartment assistance (MLS uses Leo-Palace Furnished Monthly Rental Company) Instructor pays between 70,000 and 85,000 per month, depending on apartment chosen by instructor. Utilities are included in Rent) visa sponsorship, all transportation to and from work paid, potential for promotion to curriculum development, management and other departments for instructors that demonstrate formidable skills in those areas and potential for long term employment.

MLS seeks English speaking instructors interested in either "short-term"(one year) or "long-term"(more thanone year) employment in Japan. Instructors at MLS are promoted on the basis of performance and length of employment with the company. In this regard, 1st year instructors are paid substantially less than 4th or 5th year instructors and in most cases, transfers to other departments, such as sales, production, curriculum development. research and development, human resources, etc, are usually not possible within the first year of employment with MLS, but are possible during the second year of employment. There are situations, where instructors are exceptionally talented in a certain area, where a transfer to another department would be offered during the first year of employment.

Sorry for bumping this, but I was wondering if anyone actually has any experience with MLS. The method sounds interesting to me and I put in an application. I was offered an interview and will eventually get back in contact with them.

So yeah, anything dodgy about the company? Do they treat their employees okay, etc.
