I couldn't find anything on this, but was wondering if anyone here was familiar with Interac Global Solutions. I was contacted by them.

According to the below URL, IGS is the arm of Interac that recruits people currently living in Japan for jobs other than public school ALT positions.

Has anyone here ever worked with IGS?

No problem. Seems I can't find anything involving former teachers. A part of me is just desperate (almost) for a job outside of this Tohoku region and IGS was advertising for areas down in Kanto. In order to collect my contract completion bonus, I'm not allowed to work in this region for at least a year or any prefecture where my company's school is located. Strict, eh?

Even before finding out the stipulation of the bonus, I wanted to try my hand at living down in Tokyo. More conveniences....like the hair salon. Would be nice to already be down there and not having to shell out cash to take the shinkanesen...

I haven't myself, but I have a friend who did classes at a company, and was employed by Interac, so I guess it was probably IGS. He seemed pretty happy with it.

I know that's not a lot of help, but it's all I've got.

Well, first time I heard of that. I never did see a completion bonus, so that is rather...clever.

Is it enough of a bonus to be thinking of moving regions?

Well, this is what it says in my contract regarding a contract completion bonus...

Quote:
A teacher who successfully completes this contract with three months notice will be paid ¥110,000.

A teacher who successfully completes this contract with three months notice, leaves the country within a month, and agrees not to return to work in the prefecture where *the school I work for* operates for at least one year will receive an additional ¥110,000. A return ticket may be required as proof to Management. In the event that a teacher informs management of his/her intention to renew three months prior prior to the end of hte contract and Management decides not to renew after the three-month notice, the termination allowance will be paid.

So that's the stipulation. The schools are all over Tohoku, so I can't work in Tohoku if I want that bonus.

¥110,000 would come in handy, though. I'll be able to finish paying up my hospital bill in nearly one go combined with the other money I'm using from home (I paid up until May) or I'll just budget it in with the new paycheck from the new job (if I get one). I have 6 payments left and it would be nice to just get rid of that bill in one go. I have a car that'll technically be mine in March as I owe ¥60,000 more on that, so two more payments...so that'll be a bill I will no longer have.

Or...if I choose not to use it for the hospital bill right off, I could use it to help relocate. It's a halfway decent amount.

That is a pretty god bonus. You didn't have to say the amount. I was just wondering if it were worth moving for.

It says leave the country, though. Just moving to Kanto, will you still get the bonus?

Yeah, my manager said I should get it. I'll ask about it again, though, later.

Oh and I forgot to mention that those were two stipulations there. Sorry for not specifying.
