Is good, speedy, reliable Internet available in the Philippines, or is it only the stuff of lore passed around a campfire?

Good, sometimes.
Speedy, sometimes.
Reliable, no.

There are exceptions in some areas of metro Manila or Cebu but largely it is still inconsistent.

I mentioned in a post below that you can get a service called speedify to bind different connections together. If you have a Macbook you can do the same thing but cannot add wifi to the mix. This will give you much greater speed and reliability, but at increased cost and hassle of maintaining at least three types of providers.

Manilla is probably your best bet. The business park in Cebu had sufficient Internet to teach online with reliability, but there were few options for renting, and they were expensive. It has been a couple years since I was there and I believe more options for renting are now available.

Can anyone make online teaching work?

How much is this ”speedify” service? We must add that on to costs such as rent and banking charges for remitting money from your home bank account.
(presumably the online company pays their salaries into your home account)

When you look at your bottom line it must be pretty disappointing.

Could someone survive with online teaching alone?
