Hello, I am looking for suggestions of language schools in Hanoi or the surrounding area in which people have had a positive work experience. Please comment or give any suggestions. Cheers! |

Hmmm. No responses after one month? That rather speaks volumes... |

Indeed! If I knew a good gig I'd keep quiet about it anyway. Maybe let colleagues of known ability and motivation in on it but not some random poster on a forum like this. |

Just my opinion,
But 80% of the language school are either
1. bad
2. competent but not good
3. incompetent
Usually run by people with poor organization and communication skills. Tax money that is taken out of your check is put into pockets.
The new racket, which will be existence for quite some time, is for language schools to farm out teachers to the public schools.
Just think....a public school with high ceiling fans, 45+ students, and an old chalk board. Paradise. |

Yes - schools turning into dispatch companies is a worrying trend and unlikely to go away any time soon. Eventually - when someone in charge with a conscience grasps the fact that the schoolkids' English is no better despite the money that has been spent will it end - but Japan is still doing this after decades with no hint of it ending.
If they spent the money on sending the teachers to English classes and made reaching a certain level a requirement for continued employment or maybe a bonus then they'd have a hope of making a difference.
But I for one am not holding out much hope. Plus ca change. |
