Hi, I introduced myself over on the Japan board, because @ the time, I was pretty sure that was where I wanted to go.
Lately, however, I have been thinking about SEA because of concerns about the cost of living in Japan, The Japanese reluctance to keep teachers around for any length of time, and lack of 'exotic feel' because most of Japan's traditional architecture being bombed to bits in WWII. That last concern might seem spurious to many, but what can I say, maybe I'm a bit crazy.
Anyway, from reading several posts on the Cambodia board, I take it that one of the big concerns is unpaid holidays. I'm wondering what the chances would be of giving private lessons during the holidays? |

The vast majority of Khmer students can not be arsed to put in a quality effort in class; they certainly do not entertain the idea of studying outside of school hours.
Moreover, the major holidays here (Khmer new year, the King's birthday, etc.) the city of PP shuts down and every local takes their 5 day siesta.
You might find some success my patronizing the parts of the city where many Koreans stay. Korean students do seek private tutoring. |
