I'm thinking not so much bars as Nightclubs with a decent dance floor and DJ

Enlighten me please..where can the teacher go in search of the groove on a weekend?

Well there's Safari in the Grand Hyatt and a disco in the AlGhazal bar at the Intercontinental. There's also a bar called Route 66 near the Intercon and above Feeney's Irish Bar. Not a lot of live music these days as it was banned a year or so ago.

There are no clubs in Oman-outside of the major 4-5 star hotels there isn't even any music played! Are you sure that Oman will be your cup of tea? Rolling Eyes

Just got it-- a bit later than the rest.

Ha ha-- thanks for the April Fool's laugh… 'dance clubs in Oman'. There's a tacky makeshift wedding hall that goes up one week out of the year across from my flat where they 'dance' outside during the winter months. Maybe that could suffice? You'd need an invite to the wedding, I suppose though...

I know a lot of EFL teachers in Oman who entertain themselves by dancing in their own apartments....and forming their own club too! However due to privacy rules one cannot discuss this sort of nighltlife on this board! Shocked

Yes, but it's very, very, very difficult to find out and then to be accepted into these groups.

Nobody runs around advertising it.

Everybody is paranoid of being found out and thus rather tight lipped.

There are also desert raves but you need to know the right Omanis to find out when and where.
