| Hey everyone, next fall I will be considering working at other universities in China and was wondering if there are university jobs which provide housing allowances instead of on-campus housing? I have a Chinese girlfriend I'd like to live with, so it's important to me. I've got an English degree, TEFL, three terms of experience teaching ESL in the US, and three terms of experience teaching at a uni here in China. What do you think? |

| I had applied to seven universities a while back and basically what I discovered was that you could only get an allowance if they had no apartments on campus to give you. Some apartments are pretty nice and I have one divorced friend who brought his old marriage certificate with him and got a two bedroom apartment at Beijing Capital Normal University where he now resides with his GF. I think so long as you do a good job, they are not going to pay too much attention to stuff like that so long as you aren't swapping out GFs like old shoes. Chinese tend to mind their own business pretty much so long as you are a quiet and peaceful neighbor. |
