On March 16, English Time teachers were told that they would not receive their full pay. We were told that this was an English Time wide situation, and that it would be resolved within a few days. Myself and another teacher refused to leave the Bakirkoy branch without our February pay and living allowances. The head teacher fired me on the condition that I would receive the full February pay (ET pays on the 15th of the following month). I stated that I wanted my pay, was fired, and then received it. The other teacher waited until the very end, and was paid but not fired. He noticed that another drawer of cash used to access his cash. All the other teachers only received a few hundred Lira, and had left by then.
I am currently fighting for my March to-date pay, including living allowance, as I was fired for asserting my rights as per the contract.
**Please note. As of 16:30 Tuesday, I have been offered a fair settlement from English Time that should be ratified within a few hours, at which time I will advise.
