If you are working for a school and trawling through their course books, is it legal to pay only 9% tax?

Not a chance. The Urzad Skarbowy has been going after schools for doing this, and the advice to us was not to touch anything other than umowa zlecenie/o prace if there was a clear teaching role involved.

From what I've been told, the tax office aren't going after teachers individually, but rather chasing the schools for the full tax amount and ZUS that should have been paid on an ordinary umowa zlecenie.

The only way that it would be legal would be if the person was teaching (and being paid umowa zlecenie/o prace) and they got an additional umowa o dzieƂo for producing materials.
