Jobs morph and responsibilities change. So, this certainly doesn't have to be about new jobs. I have more returnee private students to teach this year. Saturdays are almost never off for me though... that is the price I pay for a secure job. |

the point is that tasks are always added that make good jobs worse year by year such as my university adding the online attendance system. It is a total pain to use, it used to be paper based and worked fine. |

My job will get better in some ways and get worse in others.
+
1. Slight pay raise
2. Only two schools and they are near each other
-
1. Longer commute
2. Was warned this new JHS is rough |

Now I have a better commute, more pay,
but worse students and extra duties,
like cleaning supervision.
But no more bonus like I used to get.
That is the way it is and why some just work part-time jobs since you get paid for when you teach. Getting more hours is the challenge. |

All teachers have to stay an hour longer each day without an increase in pay. |

Well Nights, I have to admit that he puts a lot of work into it, at least. Things are certainly more lively now and there is the possibility that it's someone else with a similar, more serious agenda.
The same theme keeps recurring about how bad Japan is and that it's neither safe not desirable to live here. In fact, I would be inclined to think rslrunner is a part of the mix. That being said, I enjoy Dave's more with MAteacher, rslrunner and niceniceguyjin than I would without them. That last sentence is the only one that isn't speculative. |

I am not saying Japan is a bad place. I have said that there a food, land and sea contamination problem. There is a threat of another mega quake, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. There is also a demographic time bomb which is impacting most ESL jobs. If you can deal with those realities or the thought of them on a daily basis, Japan is a great place. I enjoy living there I have loads of time off at work, good pay, nice students and co-workers and couldn't really ask for a better situation. I just think there is no point brushing them under the carpet or no bringing them up. |

Actually I really like the online system used at my unis - it involves a bit more work (less than 5 minutes a day), but I always thought the paper thing was annoying, plus now the students can go and check online (so they don't ask me).
One of my unis has card readers in each classroom plus the online system - the students just go up and run their card past the reader. |
