				| Well spank my lazy old ass spiral for not doing a search. Thanks for the link though! Ummmm 2800 euros a month, free apartment in Madrid, heath insurance, $400 towards airfare and 12-16 hours work per week....... Sounds just what a slacker like me needs. With any luck I'll land in a good school and then the rest is up to me. Amazing how far a winning smile gets you! Thanks Prof I will certainly let you know how it all turns out. | |

I think you are mixing up a Nigerian 911 scam for the government programme - you are 2100 euros out with the wage and with what you have left, you pay rent out of it - rather you than me, chum.

 Hmmm. . . another April Fool's joke?
Otherwise, you got the health insurance and 12-16 hours/week right, but nothing else. (Well, I don't know about the winning smile!)

Wouldn't this have all been spelled out clearly in a contract or something before the OP accepted the position? It seems strange to accept a job and then go hunting on internet discussion boards for information about salary and benefits.

I'm thinking this is part of the April Fools' joke.

 I certainly hope so!

But there have been a few scams over the years concerning this program. The scammer purports to be an intermediary agency authorized to process and approve applications--for a fee.

				| Does anyone have up-to-date information about this program? I accepted after reading all the information and nothing in it appeared dodgy at all. I was told I'd be in Madrid, and I'll probably be the oldest (or close) teacher there. Is anyone here currently in the program, or just finishing up? Sounds great for those of us Americans who would love the opportunity to teach in a beautiful European city. | |

				| Don't pay any fees from abroad/up front and don't expect more than 1,000 euro/month max, and you should be ok. | |

				| They're offering 700 Euro per week. No request has been made for money. If it happens, that's when I'd pull out. | |

				| 700 per week is a scam. Do let us know when they ask you for money up front!
Seriously, no-one makes 2800 euro monthly in this job market, not even for uni gigs requiring serious upper-level quals.
