Hi all, does anyone know what 'final state' refers to in the context of second language acquisition? I'm currently trying to look it up and drawing a blank Sad

If you mean when the language student reaches the far shore, has crossed the wide ocean of acquisition and now knows all, I don't believe that is possible. Hell, the great brains of Dave's, and yours truly, have taken vocabulary tests for our first language, and discovered we don;t know the half of it, or even a quarter. So what is this 'final state' of which you speak? Confused
