Has come under a lot of attacks becdause it dismissed a great number of long-term teachers. Maybe I am wrong, but my impression is the school administration is acting too independently for the tastes of some (including parents). |

I can only echo 'Roger'. There was a (much-publicised) dismissal of a whole bank of experienced teachers, many of whom seemed to be quite surprised at their having been 'given the boot'.
The Koreans have a certain attitude towards education - and to 'work' in general - as do the Hong Kong Chinese. To me at least, the former embedded into the latter is a recipe for a lot of hard work! |

Ludwig, are you in bed with a ladder?
Come on. Use real English.
The school is Korean as has 'their own' section. That was apparantly the problem. Anyway, they feel it is better to fire everyone and begin again. That should send you the message you seek. Stay Away |

Fred, that's what I like about you: your unwavering, positive, optimistic voice of encouragement for NETs thinking of applying for any job that pops up on this board!
This isn't a ploy for you to be a rascal and limit the competition to improve your chances of earning the big bucks, is it?
Now that would be unbelievable

First of all mark-o, most international school posts are as good as a NET job. The Korean school is not one of them. And, any job posting an 'hourly pay' should send bells.
I have a job and will be renewed. I plan to leave in a few more years. At this point, my bank account will be UNBELIEVABLE!
There are good jobs out there but they are almost always not on this board. |

I saw these and thought of Fred:
When money speaks, the truth keeps silent. Russian Proverb
Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of its filling a vacuum, it makes one. Ben Franklin
So why does Fred drone on about money and not happiness? Now we know-actually we already knew he was miserable by the tone of his posts but just file this under all the other proof of his character. |

'Prplfairy', thanks for the Russian proverb; it would certainly seem to hold some truth.
I also like Dylan's comment that 'money doesn't talk, it swears'.
You can find similar sentiments to those expressed by Franklin in somewhat older texts, too. I am thinking of, for example, 'Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income' (Ecclesiastes). |

Fair enough, Fred - I was only teasing you.
What do you mean by:

Are you referring to salary per se, or other aspects of the jobs? |

I just don't get the reason why Fred posts here. What is the purpose? He posts nothing with useful information. What he does post is often just plain wrong. And why does he keep telling us how rich he is? Most of the teachers who post here are on equally good if not better terms, and lets face it there are an awful lot of people in HK who are genuinly rich. I really just don't get it. |

The writer had enough to scrape together a bowl of borche.
The only thing rewarding about teaching in HK is the money.
International schools would probably be more personally rewarding but the workload is more than my easy NET job.

Well Fred,
So you openly admit that you've wasted your life for a few dollars. I'd almost feel sad for you if you wern't you. It's no wonder you're so sad and angry. Latest evidence: Now you're going on about people's weight, people you probably havn't even met, on other threads. It amazing how little age and money have had on your class and maturity. |

I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes.
And just for that one moment I could be you.
Yes, I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes.
Then you'd know what a drag it is to see you.

Wow, Thanks to the first few posts for some input but as for the rest, well enough of the Fred analysis. Maybe you should get a room. |

I have 3 more years to waste in a simple job here in HK. But, is saving $30,000 per month wasting your life?
My bank account is not wasting away!!! |
