Hey,

Does anybody have any personal experience of being gay and being a TEFL teacher in Saudi Arabia? I assume you would be completely closeted while there, how is it for you?

Most TEFL teachers in Saudi Arabia are definitely not happy.

I served His Majesty The King a total of nearly three years as a TEFL teacher. By "gay" I can only assume you are asking if we were happy as we donned our apparel. Hell! We all were! Everyone is gay in Saudi Arabia. Even the cancer patients. It's the law. Why do you think Saudi Arabia is known as The Magic Kingdom?

Many in SA. Closeted, yes.

Never have interaction with Saudis, it never works out, and could land you in jail or worse.

It's infinitely easier to be a gay in Saudi Arabia than to be a heterosexual. It would have to be kept in the closet needless to say. Homosexuality abounds in the KSA due to the insane restrictions on talking and meeting with women. Possibly one of the reasons they are so strict on the Hepatitis and HIV portions of the medical.
