Yongchuan (Chongqing) or Mianyang (Chengdu) ????? [The unhijacked thread]

I have almost identical offers of employment for next term from a university in Yongchuan, which is about 85 kilometres from Chongqing city, and a university in Mianyang, which is about 100 kilometres from Chengdu.

Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of living in either city, or does anyone know of any websites that provide information about either city?

Any and all assistance will be genuinely appreciated.

Cheers

Not first-hand experience, but some insider knowledge.

I like CHengdu best, but Mianyang is NOT Chengdu. It is in fact a huge urban jungle separated from CHengdu, without any mititgating facts. It's not even on any tourist itinerary.

Chongqing is quite interesting too, but again, Yongchang is NOT CHongqing although it is within the greater municipality. No one, to my knowledge, has worked in Yongchang before; most Westerners worked or work in Chongqing city proper.
For good reasons! Outside the city, it's fairly underdeveloped, poor and often unhygienic. But you might have a good time if you are after the "genuine" China.

''Teacher' Lindsay', as I said, Kafka-like industrial wastelands.
