Before I spend more time applying to teach in the UAE, hope you'll give me your advice (again). The next item of business would be a teaching demo on Youtube, so best ask now.
1. Are they as ageist as Asia? (That is, like China who officially stops hiring at 65 and often before then; other Oriental countries that stop much earlier...)
2. What do I need to know about getting hired to teach there, if they do hire over-60's with lots of ESL experience
A colleague who works in Abu Dhabi swears my age (66) won't matter with getting hired at language schools or even at the universities, so I've been kind of excited about this.
Thanks |

A PhD doesn't help - even if you are already there and have had several 3 year contracts with the same employer. According to a mucky-muck involved with immigration issues, a PhD in Nuclear Physics or in a medical specialty would be OK, but seldom otherwise. Wasta (aka connections) may help. |
