What do you call the thing under a C that makes it an S sound, like in Turkish or French? I asked this same question on Google, Bing and Yahoo and got nothing. Its like a little hook-tail. Thanks.

Just be aware that in Turkish it does not make an s sound, but 'ch' as in 'church' or 'sh' as in 'sheep'.

It is a voiceless postalveolar affricate. |

Alas there was a time when a knowledge of French Language and Literature was a requirement before one could be considered educated. No more.

				Dear scot47,

Beware - remember what happened to the original "O tempora, O mores" guy.

His head and hands ended up on sticks.

Regards,
