Fantastick article, Johann.
It's wonderfully comprehensive while specific, and a summation of topics of which I'm only aware after a semester of historical linguistics as an undergrad-- a long time ago. A lot of readings and lecture hours were required to frame the inquiry of portions of what this brief article concludes.
It's nearly unsettling-- enough time passes and an accumulation of theses and study wind up invalidating some of what I studied while consolidating varying interpretations/theory to a handful of accepted definitions and best practices.
Ah, the young-- they have it so much easier. |
