|
|
Hi
Can anyone advise with this. I've just been updated on the application process by HCT and they now need :
"An attested copy of your highest academic qualification. Your certificate will need to be attested by the country of origin and then the UAE Embassy. (scan and return via email to include the page with the attestation/ stamp from the UAE Embassy)" meaning ?
AND
" Original Transcripts of your highest qualification (Please request the University to send it to the following mailing address)"
As someone unfamiliar with this, what am I supposed to do - contact the embassy ?? Also, can you really expect a university to mail the transcripts overseas ?
And meanwhile the clock ticks and I don't really see if I'm any closer to getting a position ! |

It's no biggie, but you need to get on it asap. See the UAE Embassy's site (http://www.uae-embassy.ae/Embassies/uk/Content/592) for the attestation requirements. As for your university mailing your academic transcript to an overseas employer, mine did (from the US) at no charge. Contact yours. |

Okay thanks. I'm still confused though.
So I have to send them off first to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and then I have to go to
London to the UAE Embassy? |

I have no clue---I'm American and only know about the process for US university degrees. Seriously, follow the instructions per the link above to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office or contact the FCO directly if you're not sure how to proceed. But I suspect you'd then send your document off to the UAE Embassy in London if you're unable to submit it in person. You need to find out.
Alternately, there are agencies that specialize in expediting this process. Do a search on document attestation uk. |

Don't use your originals the stamp spoils them. Take your original certificate to a solicitor and ask them to notarise a copy. Then send the copy to the FCO in Milton Keynes then to the Embassy. If you live in or near Manchester then Pannones on Deansgate have a notary public who will do the complete process for you but at a price. |

Yes, American universities should send transcripts overseas. I've never had problems with this. I'm glad to see that UAE federal universities are finally asking for a transcript sent from the university, but is this just an American thing? Therefore, I don't know if you will find it an easy process or not. |

UK Universities will send a sealed transcript if you contact them and explain the reason. |

It seems a real pain in the arse to be honest. Send the cert of somewhere, then go to London to get it stamped or whatever. Like yeah, I can just take a day off work at my college to do that - actually no it doesn't work like that. They say I am near the end of the application process, well it sure as hell doesn't feel that way.
BUT the main stumbling block is the fact that.....I haven't been awarded the cert yet !!! Which they would know if they had bothered to look at my application form. I've got the transcript but the certs won't be issued until the end of June ! Nothing I can do about that.
In the blurb, they said the "highest qualification" - now I have an MA in Renaissance and Romantic Literature, as well as the pending one in Applield Linguistics. I wonder if the first MA would be sufficent, as I'm not actually sure if the second one is actually necessary for the job, even though it is directly related. I've emailed them so I will see. Unlikely I know...... |

From the employers' perspective, applicants are expected to have all their relevant documents in hand upon application for positions. Your first MA won't suffice; your application will be immediately rejected. Plus, be aware, HCT may count only the experience gained after completion of your highest, qualifying degree. Anyway, perhaps your diploma will arrive prior to whatever closing date is indicated on the job posting. At that point, you can expedite the process of getting it attested by using a document attestation agent.

Oh dear I'm so hacked off. Maybe I need to not think about going to the ME this year.
The uni won't have an official transcript available until August....... |

Seriously, if you're about to be jobless and are desperate, there's always Saudi Arabia. You can use your BA or first MA (unless they were completed online); however, you'd be limited to positions with contracting companies. The pay would be decent, plus, it would give you Mid East teaching experience. Oman's an option as well, although the pay is lower than KSA.
Otherwise, check back in the fall for possible mid-year positions in the UAE. Or look to China for teaching jobs. |

Well I have an online interview with the American Uni in Kuwait - I know the forums have negative comments about it, but I daresay that many colleges have negative comments really ! |

Use Vital Certificates in Bradford. Send it to them and they'll do the lot for you and it doesn't cost much. |

Have you got a DELTA/Trinity DipTESOL? That is enough for HCT. |
