I am looking for a job in Qingdao, preferably international schools or universities.

I'm having trouble finding recruiters or anything specifically for Qingdao... I've tried expanding my search to Shandong but seemed to get even less results...

Those I have found seem to be old or repeated posts (the same post every 3~5 months making be think they either have a high turn over rate or it's a bait and switch posting).

Can anyone recommend a good recruiter or site for English teaching jobs in Qingdao?

Thank you!

The only international school I'm aware of is Confucius something or other. I've never seen much in the way of advertising for them...you might try contacting them directly.

There was a new international school that was being built near golden beach in Huangdao but no idea if it's up and running yet.

EDIT:
The University of Petroleum is fairly international as well, might be worth checking into. At least more-so than other universities in the area. I always saw students from the middle east walking around near it.

Use the site search 'Qingdao' here:
http://www.seriousteachers.com/
The Ocean U is probably the biggest FT employer in QD and has an international rep.

To clarify I meant elementary international schools (or middle school or high school, but I prefer elementary school) ^^

For universities, as long as it's a reputable school than I will be fine with it.

Thank you Non Sequitur, for the link, I will check it out.

I can refer you to a vocational in QD if you PM me.
Just a bit concerned about timing if you intend to start in Sept.
Best

I intend to start at around March. Is that too late?

Thank you.

This would be the beginning of Semester Two (Spring) for the 2015/2016 academic year. OK but not ideal from school viewpoint as a 10 month contract may entail paying you for July/August 2016 summer holiday.
That said there are plenty of teachers starting after Chinese NY (aka Spring Festival) and the details would be a matter of negotiation.
Right now schools won't have the foggiest idea if they will need an additional teacher(s) that far ahead.
Get into conversation with 3/4 schools in QD and see what happens.
Here's the China calendar for 2016:

I'll be coming over from Korea and there's some visa issues so that's why I'm starting researching early. Apparently, I need more than 6 months on my Korean Alien Registration Card to get a Chinese visa. So I may have to wait until after March 2016 to be able to get a Chinese visa but my work contract and housing contract ends in February. Or maybe I can do a visa run in Hong Kong.

About when will schools start looking for new hires for March 2016?

Thank you again for the info Very Happy

I taught with a US guy in Dalian who had been in Korea. He was the only FT our school had ever picked up from the ferry terminal!
He also started at the beginning of the 2nd semester.
He had not gone back to the US to apply for his Z so I guess on that one experience you can apply. As to the Korean Residence aspect I expect what you say is true.
Of course the Z application can only be made once you have an offer, so the conversations I mentioned can take place well before that.
The only other snag about starting after Spring Festival is that it will be harder to keep a conversation going as everyone has gone home.
Over summer, schools seem to be able to keep the recruitment process ticking over but less so over the Spring Break.
Don't like the HK option but there must be other FTs in China who have dealt with these issues.
How about a thread 'Korea to China Direct - Anyone Done It?

Can anyone share their experiences with going from a English teaching job in Korea to an English teaching job in China directly?

I'll be finishing my contract in Korea in February and hoping to go to China as soon as possible.

But I'm hearing that it's difficult to do so due to visa issues and whatnot and better to do it in your home country.

I'm from Canada.

I'm mainly concerned about the visa issues and if employers would not hire me if they knew it would be more complicated to hire me while I'm in Korea.

Would appreciate any experiences. Thank you!

March might be a little late for international schools, but it's not unheard of for people to ditch their job over the winter holiday, or someone who was supposed to come work who decided not to at the last minute. Some of the best jobs pop up that way...schools are desperate to fill the spot quickly.

I agree on that. School will go back about 3rd week in Feb 2016.
International schools don't seem to be the OPs focus now and the chances of getting all ducks in row for Feb start at an international in QD are remote.
If QD is the 'must have' then widen it to Unis and vocationals on normal FT terms.

I posted this as a new thread as Non Sequitur suggested and it just got put into this thread, hahahaha.

Yes, unfortunately I have no choice in the location and have to find a job in Qingdao. What is the start dates for universities and non-international schools? I will not be looking for jobs at tutoring places and the like.

How do I apply directly to schools? Find a random email address on the school website and send an email? In Korea, it's a bit unusual to apply directly to schools without knowing anyone from the school so I found my job through a recruiter.

Might not be right for unis either...you'll just have to keep checking to see if something comes up. Unis in Qingdao pay low because there's a perception that Qingdao is a desirable place to live and work. I think most of the unis use recruiters. It would be better in maybe April as some people will inevitably fall off the boat partway through the semester.

I mentioned likely start date in previous post ie 3rd week in Feb 2016.
I think you should start conversations direct with schools as you have plenty of time and schools are probably still recruiting for their immediate need ie Sept start. Recruiters want a fix now!
Besides SeriousTeachers.com a tried but laborious method is via the wikipedia page for QD.
One of the side panels of the main page will have a link 'Education'.
This will bring up names of tertiaries but these are not links in the main.
Copy each school name over to Google and you'll get the actual home of most schools.
Once there look for 'International' or similar. This should get you an email address which you can use.
Emphasise Feb/March 2016 start and repeat it a couple of times.
Ocean U would be my pic of QD schools and they have quite a few FTs - near 20 from memory.
