If you have been living in multiple countries for the past few years, are you required to get background checks from all of them? (If yes, then do they all need to have a recent date of issue? How recent?)

Or, does Vietnam require a background check only from your home country? I have seen some job ads refer to "background check from your home country," but I'm not sure whether or not they are speaking precisely.

I am open to "in practice where I am..." answers, although I would also like to hear if anyone has recently heard the government line on this.

I do understand from reading more recent posts on a few threads that regulations in Vietnam seem to be in flux... However, I've attempted to reach the Vietnamese government website and (if indeed I had the right address from Google) it came up as currently malware-hacked. I've also asked this question, right off the plate, of a couple employers or their representatives and so far received no answer.

Cheers.

Fortunately, Vietnam only requires a background check from your country of citizenship and nowhere else. (thank god for that) If you're American, you just need to give a friend in your home country power of attorney and they can do it for you.

In fact, the only place I had to have had from ALL countries was the EU and that was a huge pain in the neck given that I will probably never forgive them for. Ironically with the EU, I didn't need my American one since I hadn't lived there for about the past seven years.
