This could have been posted anywhere, but as I'm looking in the ME I though it more appropriate here.

Basically, as the subject says, has anyone politely declined an offer or pulled out after an initial interview etc., and then re-applied to the same place the following year ?

If so, did they remember you and reject you outright ?

I know that employers just want to match a person to a set of criteria and fill a position, so aren't there to 'help us get a job'. However, has anyone experience of some holding a grudge ? I suppose it depends at what stage you pulled out !

Well I answered a small part of it.

The post is really if anyone has any experience of it.

Everyone has had offers that they didn't take. I know people who got blocked when they tried again and others that got hired when they applied later.

Just apply... worry about getting the first job which is your current big problem. Don't waste time worrying about things that might or might not happen... in the future... and for which there is no definitive answer because every situation and employer is different and unique.

Possibly. This is more likely to occur if you had applied via an employer's online recruitment system, which often allows HR to add comments to your records. So if you decline an offer, be gracious about it if you expect to reapply at a future date. But even that's no guarantee.

I've declined offers and then been contacted the following year to ask if I would still be interested. It depends on the employer.

I'd also be interested to know how people have gone about 'juggling' different offers and their strategies - this is slightly vague I know, but rather than have a public discussion, if anyone wants to PM it would be appreciated.
