O wise forum, again I beseech thee:
A week back I tidied up my Z-visa app and sent it off to a proxy (Travisa) that I've used before for other countries. Today the proxy called and informed me that the (NY) consulate couldn't process my app because the first entry date on the invitation letter (8/30), doesn't match the start date on the work permit (9/1). I was told I should ask for a new invitation letter with a matching date.
Since I heard this only from Travisa, I sent off an email to the consulate asking about the problem. In the meantime however, since consulates are sometimes slow in answering these kinds of questions, I'd like to put the question to you all. That is, have any of you run into this problem yourself? I'd like to know for certain this is the way things are, before I go rescheduling flights and the such.
Thanks everyone! (Also, thanks everyone who has answered my posts in the past-- lots of helpful information, but I admit I forgot my etiquette and didn't follow up with thank-you's). |

The conclusion, in case others should run into this problem:
Yes, the dates much match (it's worth noting I applied to the NY consulate).
Soon as the consulate received the new invitation letter w matching date my visa was issued.
Odd since the visa is valid once issued; I can still enter on the date of the original invitation letter despite the letter previously disqualifying my visa app. A contribution to the collective knowledge of Z-visas at least. |
