Can anyone recommend any good companies that aren't going to cost an arm and a leg? |

No, I don't have info on pet transport companies, although some airlines might provide that service. I suggest you also post this question on some of the more general expat forums --- do an Internet search on expats kurdistan forum.
That said, keep in mind that if you have to suddenly evacuate for whatever reason, it may be difficult to impossible to get your pets safely out with you.

Hi,
Please PM me if you can. In the meantime, check out www.expresspets.com. They provide all the scams to avoid. I don't know if you're from the US but it's still a very time-consuming, traumatic process for your pets. Please know those third party agents are NOT trained and could care less about your pets. The best airlines to transport your pets are KLM and LUFTHANSA. They have a separate email/phone line specifically designed to answer questions about transporting pets. There are a lot of hoops to jump through! Bear in mind that many of those countries do not provide the type of food your pet may need, some institutions may not permit them, and vet services may be limited. I've been there.
Regards.

Yes, I know.
Sometimes when I post on this site, I feel like people think I just woke up and decided "Hey, I'm going to Kurdistan."
But actually, I've already had 3 interviews with the school and I've contacted a number of pet relocation companies.
I got my dog and cat in South Korea, flew them from Korea to Texas, then drove from Texas to New York City with them on my own.
I know that you're trying to give advice but really I just asked for recommendations on pet relocation specialists. And one company said that it could potentially cost $17000, which is a no go for me since my dog and cat can both travel in cabin. |

I wonder how well KLM and Lufthansa deal with cows. |
