Has anyone worked (or is currently working) for Cuiwei College in Beijing?

I searched the Job information board, and found one result (negative), but I don't place much value in the comment, because the author complains about the weather.

Here are some questions that I have:

4000RMB for 16hrs/5000RMB for 20 hrs --- I think this is reasonable, am I off base here?

Is Beijing just a mass of people, or is there some kind of sanity? Would you recommend the city?

If anyone here is living in Beijing, are you able to take Mandarin lessons, or is it too difficult? If you are taking lessons, can you recommend a school (or tell me about how many RMB/hr a good class would cost?)

Thanks for all of your help... I submitted my application, and the HR guy is really nice (I haven't talked to him in person yet), but he is telling me that we are in a time crunch (to process visas and stuff), and he would like an answer soon.

I haven't been to Beijing, but I can address 2 of your queries;
Quote:

My current salary is 6,2000 RMB for 22 X 40 minute lessons.

I have received 3 jobs offers for next term:-

A Guangzhou commercial college 6,000 for 18 lessons
A Chengdu university 4,500 RMB for 14 lessons
A Chongqing university 5,000 RMB for 16 lessons + generous holiday pay

My current employer had me enter on an 'L' (tourist) visa and they converted it to a 'Z' visa after I arrived (which eliminates the 'time crunch').

The Guangzhou college and Chongqing university have advised that I should (re) enter China on an 'L' visa and they will convert it to a 'Z' visa after I arrive but the Chongqing university insists that I obtain a 'Z' visa to enter China (facilitated by documentation provided by them).

As an aside, it's my impression that it's currently a 'teachers market' here in China (as opposed to an 'employers market'), but many employers have not adjusted their salary packages accordingly. If you submit 25 job applications you're bound to get at least 5 offers.

Finally, look at the total salary package, not just the monthly pay:-
Airfare reimbursement (must buy a ticket) or airfare allowance?
Paid holidays?
Travelling bonus for the winter & summer breaks?
Requirement to make-up classes missed because of National holidays?
Shared accommodation or single? (I won't share)
Free electricity / gas / water / drinking water?
Medical insurance, and to what value?
Free life insurance?
Free, unlimited internet access in your apartment?
Computer and printer in your apartment?
DVD player in your apartment? (VCD players are useless)
Free Mandarin lessons?

Cheers
