Hello, I have 6 years teaching experience in Japan and South Korea. I have a Trinity cert and I'm almost finished my MA TESOL.
I'm looking for job opps in the TESOL industry that require a masters, such as teaching positions in Universities etc.
any leads or info would be appreciated.
thanks |

From what I have been able to gather, university positions here have been heading downhill for a while. Availability of positions is scarce, and university salaries and benefits have been under a downward cycle for years.
If you like teaching adults, you could consider some of the more professional language centres focusing on adult learners (e.g. Wall Street). Alternatively you could consider a position in the Secondary EDB NET scheme. |

The British Council hire pretty regularly in HK (or so it seems). The starting salary is about 25k a month but with your experience you might go in a good bit higher than that. Also if you eventually got promoted to senior teacher the salary would be pretty competitive I think (close to 40 a month).
I agree with Jmbf, Uni jobs here do seem on a downward spiral.
Keep in mind as well that you don't have the same volume. You are coming to a city of 7-8m, not a country of 50+m. That means there are far fewer uni jobs available. From memory HK Baptist Uni and the Vocational Training Council might hire you but the latter have a pretty dreadful reputation as employers. HK City U have a language centre and that might work.
Hong Kong is a bit of an unusual market. I believe it's something of a 'best kept secret' in terms of the money/lifestyle balance it can offer to experienced TEFL teachers in Asia. However the market operates more like a European country with a preference for those already here and less of a structured route into employment (compared to Korea, for example). |

True, but as you posted this in the Hong Kong forum that's what we advised on. |
