Could you be a bit more specific? Are you looking for information about the city or the school? Or do you want general advice about what it's like working here? What do you want us to help you with?!

HO!? sorry - can you guys help with the school, I think they call it Yang En University.
Basically what reputation has it?

Also after reading a bench of stuff on Fujian state it sounds like an "antique state" ...,

Quanzhou has no westerners [???] I mean nothing like Shanghai or Beijing, just a guess... but it's a town of 6 millions, so what do we do there?

I can't tell how far the U is from Quanzhou

Last, can't tell neither how far is the sea from Quanzhou

Regards.
H.

I don't know En An University myself, but there have been a huge number of overwhelmingly negative posts.
A repeated complaint was that the uni is inconveniently far out of town, with poor transportation links.
That should be easy to verify.

Another point - perhaps less easy to check out - is that many people complained they were harassed by the administration. While one never knows the whole truth in such situations, one featucaught my attention: several posters claimed they were physically hindered from leaving with their luggage for apparently trifling reasons.

As for Quanzhou: it's a nondescript town halfway between Shantou in Guangdong and Fuzhou. There isn't much to see there but in general, Fujian province is well-to-do.
Xiamen is a nice destination nearby.

I worked at Yang-En some years ago.
It is money machine for Boss Wu and I suggest you find somewhere else.

QuanZhou is a nice enough town with an Old Mosque and a few other sights.
But it is a quite a bus ride from YEU.
There is a post on the Info journal <http://www.eslcafe.com/jobinfo>
(not mine) It sounds about right

The person who wrote that article was sacked for harassing students and other staff. Don't believe everything you read.

I would certainly agree and there are some other posts on that list about YEU, some quite postive, others highly critical.

My view tends very much towards the latter.

I'm not quite sure what you think the point is of posting the entire contract. Do you think it is truly binding on your employer? Maybe you haven't read enough of this website.
China's a big place, from what I've heard.

Ah, yes, fond memories, beautiful scenery, a mountain in the near distance, green rice patties, being awakened at 6:00 Am (no later) by the sound of firecrackers in the distance, village cocks crowing, and peasants outside the building speaking loudly to each other, making it impossible for Westerners to sleep. Chinese are a very early culture, in the morning.

Villagers were cordial but not real open, they speak Min Nan Hua, unintelligible to Mandarin speakers, (also spoken in Taiwan).

There are no lawn mowers, workers cut the grass (when it is cut) with a scythe.

Boys do one thing, play basketball. That seems to be the only passtime, there are small restaurants at the gates of the campus, a couple small karaoke bars. It was a developing institution, a way and dream for boss Wu to make money. Students did not want to be there. They were the rejects who did not pass the test to get into a standard Chinese university.

The getaway was to Quanzhou, an hour's ride by bus. The school took the foreigners into the city once a week for shopping. The real getaway was to go with your students to their villages and see how the common people live. I stayed in a stone village that we journied by train, for three days, with my student. Xiamen was always an enjoyable trip, and GulangYu, the magical western-styled architecture, a small island you can walk around, the local Pizza Hut at the time was the only western-style food you could get in the entire region.

No milk at the time, no cheese (unless you like soy milk), I had to buy a chicken from a villager and she cleaned it for me. It was not a meaty chicken.

I bet things have changed a lot in nine years, since I lived there.

I was talking to an Aussie who worked at Yang En. They take them into the city once a week to shop at Xinwadu.

My friend applied there and said they now have direct bus service to Quanzhou city that takes about 35 minutes

What about all those reports of security guards beating a teacher? Is that true?
