For several reasons I've left it very late in the job hunt. I've been in Xi'an for the past 2.5 years and looking for another University job in the city.

Do you think it's too late to still find one?

Any suggestions on how I should go about the process at this stage in the game?

I've taught at a University before, but that was when I applied well in advance.

It's a tricky one. Most unis have now left for the summer, otherwise I would suggest that you go in person to the FAO at the unis in Xi'an and ask in person.

Other than that, you'll just have to keep checking the job boards...

Most of the reasonable positions are long gone. The only jobs for unis that seem to still pop up are the dregs, where nobody really wants to work. Still, you may get lucky if a FT pulls out of an agreement and a spot opens up somewhere good.

A recruiter can find you a job and get the ball rolling when it is impossible to get the school's FAO to get moving when you are dealing directly with the school. Most of the university's FAO's I've dealt with have someone in the office during working hours unless the campus is shut down and locked up during the summer.

The problem is that at this point, if you do get a job, by the time you get your letter of invitation, your visa and your tickets, the school may have already begun.

But late is better than never.

Look at Dave's ESL Cafe job board or subscribe to esljobs.com or visit abroadchina.org .

Send me a PM. My last university is still looking for someone.

Ditto.

I'm not far from you either, but not Xi'an.

Best of luck.
