Hello,
A colleague (national of Romania now with U.S. passport) who has an M.A. Applied Linguistics and Ph.D. in English lit has extensive experience teaching academic ESL/EFL writing/reading as well as lit in regular English Dept of university and is searching for lucrative tertiary institutions to apply for a position next year (I think January). Here is a list to which she has applied:

1. American University in Dubai, Assistant Prof. of English
2. British University in Dubai, Assistant Prof. TESOL
3. Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai, Faculty position in Composition
4. Hamdan Bihn Mohammed Smart University in Dubai, Assistant Prof. of English
5. Abu Dhabi University in Al Ain, Assistant Prof. of English

I'm not familiar with any of these. Any advice?

Few of us know much about the non-TEFL positions for PhDs. She is way late for anything for the first semester as you know. None of them are really on our radar here. I've heard of AUD and Abu Dhabi University - but in Abu Dhabi, not Al-Ain.

I would suggest that she just apply to any openings that are being advertised and if she gets any offers, then start checking the places out.

There is really on SQU in Oman. She can check the website to see if there are any openings in the English Department.
