Yes, another thread on work permits
My work permit runs out in November, so in 4 months
Does anyone know when my employers should start applying to renew it?
Given that it's also my residence permit, does it have to have 6 months left on it (as is required when you first apply)?
Am very confused and haven't found any info online yet Confused

It basically can only be extended two months before its expiration and the latest when it would be able to be extended is 15 days before it expires. Keep in mind that if your employer is nonchalant about things such as deadlines, which is how many Turkish employers are, then I recommend being proactive about things so they don't delay it past that point. Otherwise, you'll have to apply with a whole new application. Sorry to sound negative due to my bad experiences in Turkey, but your employer probably won't care one bit about that. It means less paperwork and less money for them, and it means you're in a terribly bad situation. Either you have to leave to the country and get a work visa from abroad or need to go through a residence permit application for at least 6 months then apply for your work permit all over again.

Quote:
Term extension applications must be filed within a maximum of two months in advance of the expiration date of the permit. Extension applications filed within a maximum of fifteen days following the expiration of the work permit will also be processed. The term extension applications filed thereafter are subject to the principles applicable to foreigners who file an application for the first time. In the case of work permit term extension applications filed with a valid residence permit (as with first-time applications filed while in Turkey), the required documents must be submitted to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security within six business days following the online application.
