Hi all,
Is anyone here currently working at Prince Sultan University? If you could tell me a bit about the working environment, accommodation, students, etc. that would be appreciated.
Best regards, |

There have been a few threads this year... 4 or 5 came up with a search though I didn't read them to see how helpful they are. I did the search using the full name and just PSU (choosing "search for all terms.")

The working environment is fairly decent and relaxed. There is no clock in/out system. Contact hours: 20 or fewer. As per PSU's OYP website, the department is quite large, so it's pretty easy to establish a social life. Pay is always on time. Housing is in units in the Diplomatic Quarter, about 20-30 minutes away from the PSU campus (transportation to and from the university campus is provided daily). Some units are newer/refurbished, others rather old and dingy. On the bright side, living in the DQ is pretty safe and quiet and provides easy access to embassy functions.
Students are nice, respectful, and generally motivated; few, if any, discipline problems (the HoD and Dean back up faculty if any discipline problems arise). Academically, male PSU students are not the bottom of the barrel, but not the sharpest bunch either. Hope this helps, Nicholas. If you have specific questions or would like more info, feel free to PM me. |

I have signed a contract with PSU and am in the Visa process. If I live in teacher's housing, what do my wife and I need to bring? Should we ship boxes by a shipping company, or bring it as excess baggage? |

Accommodation is fully furnished. Just bring your clothes and other items you can't do without. |

|
|
To follow up on this, am coming to PSU with my wife. There is a limit to how much we can bring on the plane. How much stuff do most people ship? We will limit to clothes plus books/docs/misc. If we keep all the clothes we have now, it would be about 10 boxes clothes plus 2-3 boxes books/etc.
What do other people bring? What do they ship? Anything at all?
If we ship, what's the best way to do it? |

Unless it's really worth it don't bother shipping anything here.
I just brought my clothes and a few other bits I also brought my laptop and external hard drive.. I'm a kindle guy so that took care of the books.
The apartments are fully furnished, even comes with a flat screen television depending which apartment you get. |
