List of US State jurisdictions providing online background checks

I hope that this will be useful to people who have been in Vietnam for more than six months but now must have both local and home based checks as well as to people moving to Vietnam from other countries.

States marked Yes appear to have uncertified name based checks available on line. I have not checked any of these, except Hawaii, as they require payment and/or registration. These could presumably be taken to the US consulate/embassy for notarization but no guarantees are expressed or implied.

States are marked No for a variety of reasons. Most of these include requirements for fingerprints. Some have mail-in applications but will mail to US addresses. Some require notarization of the mail-in application.

Once again I find myself expressing frustration that the US Consulate/Embassy does not do fingerprinting. If they did, it would all be a lot easier.

Wow, nice work. If it was this easy for you to find info on all 50 states I wonder why we have so many questions about this. This should be stickied, but I suppose it would be difficult to keep updated.

The bummer about Wisconsin is that it states on the form you get, something like : "This may or may not be the person you requested, and there are no guarantees."

Not sure what that's all about, as I am pretty sure I had to enter my social???? Don't remember.

Shrug. Mileage may very on its use I'm sure.
