I am leaving by the end of this month to work in KSA. I already had a resident iqama through my Saudi husband, so I didn't have to go through the whole process of getting an employment visa. My husband thinks I should certify my degree from the U.S Department of Education just in case an employer asks for it in the future (current employer didn't ask me to do anything), but I don't know if I should do it or not. I already have tons of things to plan and only 2 weeks to do it all. Do you guys think I should do it or not? |

The US Dept of Education doesn't certify degrees. At this late point in your move, I would just make sure to bring original degrees with you and you might also want to get in touch with your university and get a couple sealed, stamped transcripts. They may be useful for future jobs.

You should have had your degree authenticated by the SACM once you signed the employment contract; your employer may expect you to indicate it was authenticated prior to arriving in country. (This is also a requirement for Saudis who graduate with degrees from US universities.)
I suggest you get that process started asap so as not to hold up your employment. The SACM's forms: http://www.sacm.org/pdf/Applicationauthentication.pdf and http://www.sacm.org/pdf/DistanceLearning.pdf |
