Hi there, I would like to find out if anyone has some information on a school in Qingdao, called Premier English. They seem really great and organized, but I'd really appreciate some "outside" knowledge on it. Go easy on me, I'm new to this forum stuff, thanks in advance. |

Assuming it's one of the first links on Google, then here's the feedback I can see:
Firstly, they offer shared three bed accommodation. That's three teachers in one apartment, which is rough. If you want to have someone stay over, is that ok with the other two teachers? What if they are smokers and you aren't? What if they drink and you do not? However, if you're new to China it might be nice to have a buffer of one or two teachers that live with you to help you get around etc. Although I hated sharing an apartment, there you go.
Secondly, they hire non natives, which is illegal now. No idea if that is any indication.
Thirdly, they ask for 5 x 8 hours a day working hours. That's similar to international schools. Most public schools only ask for the teaching hours plus a couple of office hours a week. This lot ask for 20 hours teaching plus 20 hours office hours. That would annoy me.
Anyways, depends what the pay is. For 40 hours a week I hope they offer at least 16000 a month because that's 100 an hour. I, however, value my time at more than 100 an hour, so would be looking at 40 hours a week at more than 25000, which training schools like this obviously won't offer. |

I agree with Larsson. The only positive is the locale - Qingdao.
I'm biased but I feel newbs are better off in the public system to start with. I know of one QD vocational that seems to be hiring. PM if you want to take it further. |
