|

Hello all. I am sure that there is an answer for this in the Forum, but I have missed it. So sorry for that. To keep things simple, The contract was not honored on their end , and I was really left out of pocket. Who can I contact (govt wise) with the documents and videos I have as evidence to try and recoup the losses? Thanks for your time.

Go to the City FAO. It is usually located in the city government center, the same building or group of buildings where the PSB is located. |

Just my experience but I called the Foreign Affairs office and told them I was not paid. They said they don't know what to do. Maybe going in person is better. |

Don't call. Show up at the City Foreign Affairs Office at 3:00 (after their two-hour lunch break) with proof of your claim or at least a good account of the problem. I've done it once (for a very good reason). It works. FAO's need a little more oversight, especially the young bimbos. |

Yeah... you all are right. I am not in the country, so it is proving...difficult. I may need to find an intermediary or some kind of support group. |

I had a similar problem when I worked in a training school before. They mysteriously "forgot" to pay me my airfare allowance of 8000RMB. I kept asking them and asking them, and eventually they just ignored me. One day I got fed up and threatened to contact the police if they don't pay, and mysteriously the next day before lunch time (as I requested), the money went through. Funny how the works, eh? |

Not good. An alternate option is to TRY to get through to the SAFEA in Beijing. It isn't restricted to one city like the City FAO is.
The problem with the SAFEA is that it's not much different from owning an old, toothless, deaf, mute, and farting dog.
Good luck. Once you leave the country, you are S.O.L.. |

Ain't that sump'in'? When you bark back, they often relent. It's usually because they have something to hide and don't want the heat to come visiting. It sounds like a crummy condemnation, but it's true. |

Good advice for future teachers. Make sure you settle all monetary affairs/getting documentation before leaving the country because you are pretty much SOL after. |

Sorry to hijack OP's forum, but I am in a somewhat similar situation. When I got to work yesterday morning, I was informed that all full-time teachers salaries are going to be reduced by half (12k-6k) along with required monthly hours (100-50), due to our training center location not being profitable. I have looked all over online and on this forum about employers breaching the contract, but most, if not all blogs or articles are one-sided talking about if the teacher breaches the contract (midnight runners). I even looked at my contract, but didn't find anything stating them permission to alter/change the contract terms. Can someone bring some logic to light as this is driving me crazy?
Cheers,
Aaron |

Go find another job. Get it lined up and tell the new employer why you are leaving your present employer.
Write a letter to your present employer spelling out how your contract has been breached, that you intend to leave, then send a copy to the City FAO. (Hand deliver it).
Wait for a response from your employer. He'll probably be relieved that you are leaving.
Then get on the bus and be gone. |
