Rumours have reached my redoubt here about a Westerner having been kidnapped in Khobar, but there is no confirmation in the Mainstream Media. Any thoughts ?

"Any thoughts"?
I can't believe so far away from the black hole of Syria-Iraq that anything could happen in Saudi Arabia. That's sarcasm!

I'm surprised that Saudi Arabia has been so "peaceful" during this 2012-15 period. Though I'm sure ESL teachers are secure.

Good Lucky,
William

"On 14 November 2015, there was an attempted kidnap of a British national in Al Khobar."

The rumour I heard was that some guy was jogging on the Corniche and there was a bungled attempt to kidnap him.

Me thinks the kidnappers later found out he was an EFL teacher that probably explains why it was a "bungled attempt" to kidnap him...so they most likely thought the ransom money they wanted for kidnapping him wasn't worth it at all Shocked

Or they realised that he was an EFL teacher and decided that the chances were that he was insane, so they left him alone. Those touched by madness have a special status in the Faith.
