They're hiring again. And one ought to wonder why they're always hiring. Ask people who've been around the block in HK a few times about their reputation and ask the teachers working there if they give a damn about education or integrity. When I worked there they wanted me to condone plagiarism, alter attendance records so students who ought not to would pass, they wouldn't investigate my complaints of sexual harassment from a student even though I had over twenty witnesses, the principal, who got her job through her husband and who admitted to not having taught in twenty years, tried to swindle me out of my severance pay, teachers are flat out told to have low expectations, etc. If anyone doubts me ask people who are experienced in HK and VTC staff if what I'm saying is difficult to believe. A total sell-out ass-kisser who doesn't care about anything might do OK but a principled teacher who adheres to moral principles will hate it. |

But will people listen to you? I told you something similar years back when you wrote you were about to accept a contract there. You got angry at me, implied I was arrogant and took the job anyway. Nonetheless, good to see you finally came round. |

You must be proud, you were right. In the meantime I don't remember our correspondence but the story you mentioned would have happened about three-and-a-half years ago. You may wish to move on with your life. |

I recall those exchanges and RM is making a valid point. Some people will always be lured by the filfthy lucre, though I agree DLJ it is worth posting here in the hope it may deter some folk from applying. |

Hello Perilla, thanks for your interest. I don't see anything wrong with taking the best offer, particularly when I have a family to support. As for VTC's rotten reputation, I hadn't lived in HK yet and wasn't aware of it. I had two job offers at the same time (with roughly equal benefits), searched for opinions and guidance and advice was about 50/50. In the end I regrettably chose VTC since they provided a furnished flat, great for noobs. |

Well life is like that, you make your decisions to the best of your ability and move on, hopefully with new lessons learned. Thanks for coming back and updating this thread. |

Total ass-kissing sell-out here in it for the filthy lucre. No, but seriously, can anyone give a heads-up on the written questions after the interview? Answers, too, from those of you who got the job.
Oh, yeah, and thanks! |
