Hi,
So I'm an American looking to get sponsored in Hanoi for visa and I know that I have to get the FBI background check later on. However, for the meanwhile- I have requested a local criminal record check and the letter I got is preposterous. I mean, I don't know how my embassy will even want to notarize this as it looks like something I typed up myself.
So my question is did anyone recently get a local sheriff's letter of good conduct before leaving. Is it supposed to have a seal or something? Do I need the good conduct letter in the first place if I only work for three months?
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you. |

You should have asked for it to be notarized before sending. As far the embassy...they really don't care what it looks like as it's basically just an affadavit that YOU are solemnly affirming the validity of the documents. |

In 2013 my family in CA helped get a clean record report (not the actual name of the document, but it's just a brief page) from the sheriff's office, as well as get it notarized by the notary public (same building in my county), before sending it to me. This got an affidavit at the US Consulate here in HCMC along with my other certs, which then all got translated and certified in the VN offices. Done. |

You plan to only stay in VN for 3 months? This is for getting a work permit. You don't need this for under the table work. |
