Does anyone have any info about South China Business College, affiliated to Guandong University of Foreign Studies., in Guangzhou, Guandong Province?
I was contacted by a recruiter there. I asked him whether it might be possible to contact a teacher there to find out more about the job. The recruiter from the South China Business College, Guangzhou, replied that it was not possible to do that.
Employers always insist on references from potential hires, but I think it should work both ways.

There was one college in Guangdong I applied to that couldn't provide a reference because they had no foreign teachers working there (I didn't ask whether they had ever had an FT working there because there were other problems with the job). You might inquire as to why they are not able to provide a reference. |

I would guess that the recruiter doesn't actually have a relationship with the
College - so far.
When he has you on a string, he'll offer you to the college and see what happens.
I think that talking to a current/recent teacher is confirmatory and all the other issues should have been resolved. The biggest of these is the right to process an offer through to Z and then residence.
I accept that you may have done all that and are just a little put off by the refusal to put up a referee.
Do apply elsewhere while this is going on. If your intended start date is in Spring Semester, you've got a bit of time. |

Thanks for the feedback.
Well I love the location of Baiyun District in Guangzhou. That is a great location.
Since asking the recruiter about a foreign teacher working there, the lines of communication have gone silent.
Perhaps, I should visit this campus and take it from there.
Thanks again.
