No thoughts on this ? Do people on this forum only follow news from the Anglosphere ?

Was it an accident or a terrorist outrage ?

Only God and the pilot know what happened to this Russian Airliner.

Russia has a poor air safety record, particularly with smaller airlines' unmodernised fleets causing worries.
The latest news is that the Airline had not paid its employees for two months.
The plane that was involved in this crash had previously been in an accident in which its tail had been damaged. The plane was not operating under this airline at the time, and Metrojet stressed that it was properly repaired and had recent safety checks.

Lots of conspiracy theories are emerging, but until the black box is found and examined, we will probably not know.

Experts say the crash could not have been caused by technical failure and blame " external activity", whatever that means!

Could I just add a flying pig was sighted in the vicinity? What you’ve written above is finest tabloid laziness. Let’s imagine no one had been paid for two months. How does this equate to an aircraft breaking up in mid-air? How about waiting 72 hours for some facts?

What? Finest tabloid laziness?
What I wrote above is a fact.
In fact, according to the most recent IATA report, flying a commercial airline in Russia is four times more dangerous than the world average.

Recent high-profile commercial air disasters include the 2011 Yak-Service disaster, which wiped out nearly the entire Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice hockey team, the 2013 Tatarstan Airlines crash, which killed, among others, the son of Tatarstan president Rustam Minnikhanov, and the Vnukovo Airport ground collision, which killed, besides three others, Christophe de Margerie, CEO of Total oil company and a tireless champion of Russian business abroad.
Outdated legislation that muddles issues of accountability, corruption, and a general lack of safety culture are routinely cited by experts as some of the major factors behind the poor performance of smaller Russian airlines.
Plenty of speculation has already occurred in the Russian media as to the cause of the Egypt crash. Opinions from both seasoned aviation experts and former passengers of Kogalymavia, the airline that operated the doomed flight, have poured in. They include a terrifying account from Russian blogger and seasoned traveler Olga Fink, who flew Kogalymavia to Egypt in 2013 recalled “frankly inebriated flight attendants”, “four attempts at a landing” and “a rickety cabin where everything was broken.”

The latest news are:
"Judging by the recording, a situation onboard developed suddenly and unexpectedly for the crew, and as a result the pilots did not manage to send a distress signal," a source said.
An Egyptian doctor who examined around half of the 224 bodies told The Telegraph that about one in five of the corpses had been badly burned in the moments before death.
The finding suggests that a fire broke out in the cabin while the plane was still the air but the doctor was not able to firmly conclude what caused the fire."

Oh yes. You’re a crash investigator in Airbus or the NTSB equivalent. How’s Sinai today?

Let’s add a few high-profile people as that always helps. We can’t have ice hockey stars and CEOs dying in plane crashes, can we? Leave that to the proletariat.

Or even

Let us adjourn forthwith to a better place, whereat we may hold discourse on matters grammatical and pedagogical. I suggest the question of the use of personal pronouns, the vocative and the nominative absolute.l

Dear Hod,

I know it's unlikely, but perhaps some people read the OP and responded accordingly. Very Happy

Let's have a fact then whilst we await news.

Banana trees are used to make paper in Costa Rica.

Discuss.

Sorry no banana trees are planted in Sinai!

The latest news from Uncle Sam intelligence suggests that the crash of the Russian airline was most likely caused by a bomb on the plane planted by ISIS.

"There is a definite feeling it was an explosive device planted in luggage or somewhere on the plane," the official said, stressing that no formal conclusion had been reached by the U.S. intelligence community.

Yes, I know, let's wait another 72 hours for some facts from the Russians and the Egyptians to see if they will tell the truth to their people!

Yesterday you said all Russian planes were unsafe and staff hadn't been paid for two months. These were your facts.
