I haven't posted for awhile but thought I would since I recently was contacted by a couple of expats who were teaching English in Ukraine. They made a short trip to check out Europe and to get a fresh stamp in their passport. Because they had overstayed for more than 90 days they paid the fine upon exiting but when they tried to re-enter after a week they were brought to the migration services in Kyiv and banned for 5 years, then deported! They are picking off the illegal teachers one by one! There is no mention of it because it is a great humiliation for the teachers to admit it so the next teacher in Ukraine thinks all is good! To update all this talk about some hope of teachers being allowed to stay in Ukraine for up to a year to work is BS because it does not clarify the fact that you need a work permit to work and an identification code to work and therefore you would have to pay taxes on your income. They have been misleading the ESL teachers for years so they could profit off of them. If you come to Ukraine and try to work illegally you will be a prisoner since you won't be able to travel freely and then at some point you will get caught and it will go on your record that you broke the law! Know the truth and then proceed at your own risk![/b] |
