What documents are needed to teach? I just got my CELTA but they don't send the certificates out for a few months, can I get my report notarized? |

For a work permit you need your original degree, police check from your home country, police check from Vietnam (if living here longer than 6 months), medical check, and your TEFL certificate.
Any document which has the name printed differently from your passport will need to be authenticated at the embassy or consulate. And the big ones, like the degree and tefl certificate will have to be authenticated to stating that it's "true and correct". |

Could someone else get my CELTA certificate notarized and authenticated? Would I have to be there? I would like to head to SEA in the next month but have been told it can take a few months to receive the CELTA certificate, don't want to wait that long. |

Probably not. You did not indicate what country you are from and I don't want to speak for other countries too much but my experience is that for citizens of the US it is actually easier, cheaper, and faster to bring your documents to Vietnam, notarize them at the Embassy or consulate, then have the VN Office of External Relations both translate and certify them. What you notarize at the consulate is not the document but your statement that it is original and genuine. In your scenario it might be best to bring your report to show employers and have the certificate forwarded later by family or friends.
Another thing is that as ExpatLuke has noted, you must have a criminal check from your home country. Depending on where you live, this might take just as long to come to you as the CELTA certificate. |

My advice only applies to Americans. If your South African then it doesn't help.
For your original background check you will need to be present in your country. It took me about 2 weeks and I must say you must say that the results will need to be authenticated and apositled. This way when they print out the results they will mail it to you on a special type of paper.
For authenticating, apostolling, translating, kissing etc...I used this site and it all cost me $300 and I had everything sent back to me in 2 weeks in one envelope. https://www.uslegalization.com/
No need to rush to get here, Tet is coming and it is much better to arrive after Tet in my opinion. |
