|
|
How do you find housing in Jeddah? Do you feel that the housing allowance is enough?
What does your daily work schedule look like? (what time do you come in, how many classes do you normally teach a day, are you obligated to stay on campus all day?)
What's vacation time like?
Thanks! |

Some teachers find the 17,000SAR housing allowance inadequate, while others don't mind paying an additional 2000-5000 a year out of pocket for a comfortable flat. Then there are those who, through luck and networking, find decent housing with that 17,000. It really depends on your tastes. Regardless, if you don't want to deal with having to find a place, then only apply to employers that provide accommodation.
Vacation time for government universities tends to be 60 days over the summer. There are also the two Eid breaks, As a direct hire, you'll likely teach around 18-20 hours a week with three/wk for office hours. It's doubtful you'd have to stay on campus all or most of the day; that's generally a requirement for teachers employed by contracting companies. |

Thanks. I'm actually looking for current teachers at KAU to give their experience. |

They may be reluctant to post in fear that management might spot who they are. You might have to make do with people who used to work there. |

That's the typical schedule for several female friends of mine who have been at KAU (as direct hires) for years. As for management issues, generally those types of complaints are from teachers working for contracting companies. |

BabyBird, there's a member that goes by the name "baa_baa", who at the time of her last posts just over a year ago, was teaching at KAU. Maybe you can send her a pm, or have a look through her previous posts. |
