I worked in Saudi 5 years ago and have two job applications currently ongoing for a new job in KSA. I went out on my old job on a business visa and have been unable to get a letter of no objection from them this week (they at first said they could help me but now they ignored my latest email asking where it is). As I have a new passport now and the business visa isn't in it, will I be able to get a new work visa do you think? Someone on TES thought that it's two years no re-entry without a letter of NO. It's more than 4 years now if that's the case. Anyone know the rules? Should I be ok?

2 years was the rule for LONO/NOC. They are no longer a legal requirement, but some employers still ask for them. They should not in any case apply if you were on a "business visa" (ie working illegally)

Sorry what do those acronyms stand for? Sorry for my ignorance. So I should be alright then I guess. Do you think I should delete my old employer off my CV since you have to hand in your CV to the Saudi visa department when applying for a new visa.

No Objection Certificate. Same as LONO - just a different name.

Shall I take them off my CV in case it's noticed? I don't have a job offer yet. I skype interviewed one of them today.

That's a question only you can answer.....No one's going to "advise" you about which details your CV/Resume should or should not contain.

The problem with leaving out previous employers (on ANY CV, not just Saudi related) is that it exposes "periods of inactivity". A few months won't matter but if your CV clearly shows no activity between, say, 2010-2012, most "real" employers are going to enquire about that period.

What are you going to say if asked? You have to think of something. You can't say I just sat at home, watched TV and ate chocolates all day long for 2 years, even if that's what really happened.

But if you say something OTHER than what really happened, you're lying. Will the new employer care? Will he find out if you say you were in Burma prospecting for pidgeon-blood rubies and you really weren't? That's something you have to live with, not us.

Notice that I said above that a "real" employer will almost certainly ask you to explain gaps in your CV. The real question here is whether any employer in KSA can be considered a "REAL" employer in the usual sense of the word. That again is something you alone have to decide.

Oh, scot, it's a many-headed medusa. Elliot_spencer, mingvase, LV-something, gamze-something, kungfuman, mishmash...and I've missed out a few as well!
There's a particularly amusing thread on the France board where three of these identities are holding a conversation amongst themselves Wink

so to make a long story short, the LONO is not a requirement and has not been one for some time.

It doesn't keep some cockroach companies from asking for one anyway. It's difficult for the slave liking Saudis to embrace new liberal ideas like free markets.

well the Saudis are gettin' their asses chewed up in the free market of oil production. Oil hit $40 / barrel and now their are cuttin' university admissions. What will they do with their dum-dums? Export them to Europe for jihad duty?
