|
|
I am a US citizen currently working in Taiwan and just accepted a job offer in China starting in February. I need to arrive to work with a work visa and have no intention of going to the Chinese embassy in DC to do this. I have heard that you can get a work visa at the embassy in Hong Kong.
1. Is this true?
2. What should I bring if this is true?
3. Is this a difficult process?
Thanks in advance. |

Work through it with your employer. For this school year, in Beijing, people had to return to their home country, but things are different depending on what province and their guanxi with the local authorities. |

For what it's worth, I always used an agent.
Mind you, it makes a big difference that my nearest consulate was Chicago.
BUT - The issue was that I would be traveling in Indonesia for the 4 months leading up to my start.
I gathered my medical and everything I could before I left for Indonesia.
While in Indonesia, the school FEDEXED me my invitation letter to the hotel we were staying at.
I then mailed all of this to an agent, for processing. It was processed, and I paid their $75 to get it FEDEXED back to me in Indonesia.
I assume this COULD work the same way for you?
Scope it. |
