|

Hello, I am looking for insight/information about teaching abroad and how it works if you are married. My husband is a biomedical technician with a networking and biomedical engineering degree. He is not interested in teaching but does want to live abroad and seek some kind of work with technology (he currently repairs medical equipment for a hospital). I am unsure how this works if I am able to get a teaching job - can he also get a visa simply because we are married or will that not be the case? What are others experiences traveling with non-teaching spouses? Any info on how that went and where would be very helpful! |

There's no one-size-fits-all response; it depends on what countries you're targeting for teaching jobs. And that's contingent upon your qualifications (i.e., degree level, major, TEFL cert or teaching license, and experience). More info would be helpful. |

I have bachelor degrees in psychology and criminal justice, and a masters in social work. I don't have TEFL/TESOL or a teaching license but am looking into getting those. I haven't moved forward with certifications since I am unsure how things will work with my husband and am currently working full-time. I have been working for the past four years as a mental health counselor for children, families and adults. I am currently a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and have been working part-time in an elementary school. I have been looking into mental health jobs overseas as well but got hung up on sponsorship so I am now also looking into teaching options. |

I responded on your other thread on the newbie forum.
Since you double posted, you might ask the Mods to lock this one so that you get responses on just one thread. |
